Carving Sessions (or Carve-Ins as we call them) are held in the Design & Technology Block at the Portsmouth Grammar School (PGS), High Street, Portsmouth, PO1 2LN from about 0930 to 1600 usually on the first and third Saturday in the month. Normally there are no Carve-Ins in July and August. However do check the Programme and Latest Newsas sometimes the session has to be held on an alternative Saturday due to commitments of the School.
There are workbenches for all and is an opportunity for carvers to get together to discuss carving, provide help and share ideas with others. A packed lunch can be eaten at the bench or there are excellent hostelries in Old Portsmouth and there is a cafe at the Portsmouth Museum next door. Drinks and biscuits are available in the workshop throughout the day at a small charge.
Visitors are welcome to watch us at work and we are always happy to provide advice and guidance on carving; however we do not normally have a display of finished carvings. Pedestrian entrance is from the High Street. Although not essential, it would be useful to know if you intend to visit (a gate code is required for PGS) by sending us an email - see the Contactstab.
